Seeing Red

Alexander McQueen Prefall 2009

In honor of World AIDS Day (which was yesterday), I decided to dedicate this post to my favorite (red) designs from this past year. Although not exactly this year's "it" color, there were still many designers that chose to include fiery hues to their collections. Here were some of my favorite crimson looks:

Louis Vuitton Fall 2009

Versace Resort 2009

Valentino Spring 2009

John Paul Gaultier Spring 2010

Dior Spring 2010

Dior Couture 2009

Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2010

Carolina Herrera Spring 2010

Alexander McQueen Resort 2010

    Dear Lucyindasky,
My December Harper's Bazaar has a good 6 pages of ads devoted to "chocolate diamonds." I write to see your opinion on this phenomenon (and, naturally, to rant), because personally I feel these particular gemstones seriously offensive. Diamonds (relative to other gemstones) are overrated and overpriced as it is- do we really have to make this more obvious by elevating a truly ugly gemstone to a supreme status? It makes my love of valuable jewelry seem that much more absurd, hence the personal offense. Where are the 3 page spreads for sapphires, hell, even malachite?

Valentino, Fabulous! Wish I could pull off a dress like that because you know I would!
    Dior Couture: I love you

    That is all :)
