Current Obsession: Gwyneth's Harper's Bazaar Cover

Harper's Bazaar certainly isn't the first fashion mag I turn to. Their covers are lackluster, their content drab. Well, the people at the magazine finally decided to do something about it and revamped their look, and I have to say, I LOVE IT. The cover and spread were shot by the controversial photographer Terry Richardson, giving Harper Bazaar its much needed edge. This cover of Gwyeth Paltrow in that painfully sexy Anthony Vaccarello dress definitely stopped me in my tracks. And girlfriend has never looked better, in my opinion.

Golden Globes 2012: Red Carpet

It's officially award season! Yay. There were many well-dressed ladies at last week's Golden Globes. The night was all about elegant jewel toned gowns. So much glam. Let's break it down, shall we?

1. Emma Stone in Lanvin - Emma has been on my style radar for a while now and she's been killing every red carpet she comes in contact with. She knows exactly how to balance daring fashion choices with elegance and grace. These colors are stunning on her and the minimal styling was a smart move.

2. Laura Dern in Andrew Gn - Never heard of the designer but now I'll never forget! What an absolutely gorgeous gown! I'm loving the emerald color and Laura has seriously never looked better.

3. Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli - Kate is insanely beautiful and is working this dress like nobody's business.

4. Dianna Agron in Riles - Dianna's costar Lea isn't the only Gleek taking fashion risks and pulling them off splendidly. This gown is covered in intricately cut out swans and I think it's FABULOUS.

5. Jessica Alba in Gucci - Finally Jessica is back! After getting married and having children she was starting to bore me with her fashion choices but brought back her A game last week. Quick question, though: why was she there?

6. Nicole Kidman in Versace - Nicole is always a hit or miss but this was definitely a "hit" look for me. She looks like a Barbie.

7. Nicole Richie in Julien Macdonald - Fabulous dress. Fabulous hair. Fabulous jewels. A+

8. Lea Michele in Marchesa - Always a risk taker. Never a disappointment.

9. Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci - The Girl With The Consistently Gorgeous Goth Chic Look

10. Diane Lane in Reem Acra - Diane is such a gorgeous woman and somehow doesn't seem to age. This dress was a great choice for her. Sexy yet still age appropriate.

11. Georgina Chapman in Marchesa - I had no idea why she was at this event until I learned that she is Harvey Weinstein's better half! She looked quite lovely in her own creation, per usual.

12. Paula Patton in Monique Lhuillier - It is very difficult to pull of canary yellow but Paula's skin tone complemented it beautifully. This would have been a disaster on anyone else.

13. Queen Angie in Atelier Versace - Angie's not much of a risk taker but consistently looks statuesque, regal and gorgeous. I just wish she would smile more. She's been quite the ice queen lately.

14. Charlize Theron in Dior - Is there a woman more gorgeous than Charlize? I think not.

15. Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang - Stunning dress but I wish she put her hair up or something. This is a red carpet! Glam it up a bit!

16. Stacy Keibler in Valentino - From the front, this gown is pretty but not a show-stopper but once I saw the adorable bow in the back, it made the dress so much more special.

17. Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann - Say what you will about the Queen of Androgyny, but I think her alien space costumes are FABULOUS.

18. Zooey Deschanel in Prada - Zooey is just the cutest thing ever. And I adore this beaded gown on her.

19. Heidi Klum in Calvin Klein - I still can't believe that she and Seal split up. I can't even....ugh.

20. Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci - Sequins, and lace and feathers. Oh, my! Although this dress almost has too much going on, I still thing Evan pulled it off. Gorgeous.

NOW ON TO THE WORST DRESSED!!

1. Sarah Michelle Gellar in Monique Lhuillier - This is one of the ugliest effin dresses I've ever seen.

2. Piper Perabo in Theysken's Theory - Everything is awful about this dress. From the color to the proportion to the way she pranced on the red carpet like a little girl.

3. Amanda Peet in Marc Jacobs - She looks like she's wearing a tiered table cloth...that doesn't even fit her.

4. Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen - I don't understand how she made so many right fashion choices for like a year straight and now she just continually disappoints.

5. Naya Rivera in Vera Wang - I can see the seam in the front of your dress, darling. NAGL.

6. Michelle Williams in Jason Wu - Everyone but me seemed to love this look. I just don't think this girl has any style. She always looks either matronly or like a little girl.

7. Mila Kunis in Dior - Mila didn't pull off the goth chic look that night. She should stick to her usual jewel tones.

8. Natalie Portman in Lanvin - There was just too much fabric in this look. It made her look dumpy. Great color though.

9. Jessica Biel in Elie Saab - I honestly thing this was a pretty dress but again, there was just too much fabric going on. It's a lot of lace. If it was a strapless gown she wouldn't topped my best dressed!

10. Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen - It literally looks like she fell asleep on top of the dress, rolled out of bed, and put it on without bothering to iron out the wrinkles.

Jason Wu for Target

Target has yet again teamed up with a big name designer for an affordable yet stylish collection. This time, it's with the young Taiwanese American designing star Jason Wu who rose to fame after designing Michelle Obama's gown at the President's Inauguration. I'm a huge fan of Wu and he has consistently impressed me, especially the past 2 seasons.

I guess you can say, I was wooed by Wu. And perhaps that's why initially I was expecting more from his Target collection and was disappointed that the clothes were cute but simple. I suppose I was just used to the glamorous garments he sent down the runway. But when I look at the collection as a whole, I get it. It's a collection for Target, and it's target audience (pun intended) is for young girls, not divas with insane budgets. I actually adore the flirty skirts, blouses with bow ties and mixed prints. With a price range of $19.99 to $59.99, I will definitely be at my local Target February 5 - March 6 to pick up these adorable frocks! I just hope it's not a mad frenzy like Missoni for Target or Versace for H&M were last year. I'm betting it will be!

Rooney Mara: It Girl...With The Dragon Tattoo

Up until a few months ago, nobody knew who Rooney Mara was. Thanks to David Fincher and the massive success of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series, she is officially the coolest chick in the industry. With jet black hair, pale skin and a rocker chic wardrobe, Rooney definitely has a 'look'. It's hard to say how long she'll keep her Lisbeth costume on since I'm certain she's been asked to keep it for now to promote the film but I'm enjoying the goth glam for as long as she'll rock it.

I think I first realized Rooney is going to be a style icon when I saw her Vogue cover. It immediately grabbed me and the Ralph Lauren gown with the beaded dragon back was stunning on her. The spread inside the magazine was also gorgeous. Dark yet beautiful.

Girlfriend has been rocking the red carpet all over the world to promote the film. I pretty much love every look but the standout dress in my opinion is the Prabal Gurung sheer black dress she wore at the NYC premiere. Love. Can't wait to see more of her!

It seems like we just met Jason Wu and yet he has been hustlin hard in the fashion game for most of his 29 years. Yes, the man is only 29, yet he has become a household name since dressing Mrs. Obama at the Inauguration 3 years ago. What's wonderful about Wu is his impeccable ability to just know what women want. Ladies, am I right? Wouldn't you love to wear these fabulous clothes to work, a cocktail party, an inauguration? Mmmhmm, that's what I thought.

Chanel Pre-Fall 2012

It's technically still 2011, yet here we are, enjoying the 2012 Pre-Fall collections. Karl Lagerfeld has apparently never been to India yet his latest collection for Chanel is heavily influenced by India. Still, there is a distinct European ambiance to it. I feel as though the clothes tell the story of a Parisian woman vacationing in India trying to blend in while wearing a $5000 white silk blouse. I adore it. I thought the styling was absolutely stunning and really enjoyed the jewelry/head pieces and dark eye makeup. The clothes were also spectacular and had a luxe feel to them that was harmoniously accompanied by the lavish display of fruits, flowers and candles on the runway. All in all, another gorgeous collection that keeps me satisfied until February when the Fall Fashion Week frenzy begins!

The Other Fabulous Olsen in Valentino

First of all, I'd like to apologize for being MIA for the past few months. I've been quite busy with residency applications, interviews, moving to LA, etc. I actually went through and watched every single fashion show during the Spring 2012 Fashion Weeks in September but I never had time to blog about it. Le sigh. Well I'm still super busy but found a pocket of time and some much needed inspiration to blog again!

I think it's pretty safe to say that the name Olsen is here to stay in the fashion world. Of course, we immediately think of MK and Ash, the designing duo behind multiple clothing lines, including the very fabulous The Row. But there is another trendy Olsen in the family proving that their genes are indeed FABULOUS. Elizabeth Olsen is the twins' younger sis and while her style is distinctly different than her older sibs, it's still very Olsen.

The younger Olsen was never really anyone I paid attention to until I recently saw the movie Martha Marcy May Marlene, which by the way is terrific. She is definitely on my radar now, especially after seeing her recent red carpet appearances. Here she is at the Gotham Independent Film Award last week looking absolutely glamorous in a Valentino Resort 2012 gown. The amount of detail in the beading is stunning and I love the nude tone of the dress with the crystal embellishment. I am officially a fan, Ms. Olsen!

One of this year's hottest trends is long, sheer dresses. Seen both in the spring and fall collections, this look is equal parts ethereal and sensual. There is an obvious provocative component due to the inevitable display of underpants, but there is also something quite chic about it, no? When I saw Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wear a sheer dress from Gucci's Fall 2011 collection, I was breathless. She looked absolutely stunning. But then again, girlfriend is a model. So the question remains, can regular people like you and I pull off such a daring look? I say hell yes! I noticed stores are now stocking up on long sheer skirts and dresses, many of them with built-in miniskirts or shorts under the daring garments. I think with the proper undergarments, this is a trendy look any girl can confidently rock.

Couture Fashion Week Fall 2011

I'm going to be completely frank. If you read my blog, then you must know how much I worship John Galliano and his brilliant designing mind, especially during Couture Fashion Week. The Dior couture fashion shows have consistently been my favorite collections due to Galliano's ability to effortlessly epitomize the meaning of 'couture' in every single garment he makes. I wasn't expecting the same kind of magic this time around for Couture Fashion week sans Galliano and was correct to assume that I wouldn't be blown away with any other collection. That being said, there were some collections that surprised me and plenty of beautiful clothes to gush about.

Alexis Mabille - I absolutely fell in love with the showstopping Cruella deVil inspired dalmatian gown the moment it came down the runway. The feathers add a bit of edge to most of the gowns in this collection and nicely complement the overall theme of 'fierce femme fatales'.

Anne Valeria Hash - Although these garments were well made and I enjoyed the sexy yet sophisticated suits, I still don't feel like this brings the drama that comes with 'couture'.

Armani Prive - The previous Armani Prive collections have had a futuristic feel to them and while this one continues that theme, it does so subtly, and with a Japanese twist. With cherry blossom prints and origami-like folds, there is certainly a Japanese presence but overall this collection does nothing for me.

Bouchra Jarrar - I adore the color scheme and would wear every single one of these outfits to work but this definitely looks more like a ready to wear collection than a couture one.

Chanel - Karl loves to make collections where I love half of it and despise the other. I would like to draw your attention to the lovely black lace dress on the top row. The drama, the passion; this is what couture is. I also loved the long sleeved floor length blue and white gown next to it. I was feeling the entire collection until the latter half of the show when the garments on the bottom row came down the runway. The textures were offensively rough, the shapes were not flattering and the there was just an abundance of dark, heavy fabric that was unsightly.

Christian Dior - Sigh. Dior will never be the same without Galliano. Bill Gaytenn, a veteran member of the House of Dior, took the reigns as head honcho to design for this collection and dear God was it awful. To be fair, the first few looks he sent down the runway weren't terrible. There was a whimsical, youthful feel to the brightly colored, mismatched prints (top row). The giant blocks and balls in the models' hair was not very pleasing to the eye but I would overlook the hair don'ts if it weren't for the abysmal gowns that dominated the majority of the show (bottom row). Dear important fashion people, kindly please allow Galliano to return to the industry and create couture magic. Thanks, Lu.

Elie Saab - Oh, Elie. You continue to create the same predictable, gorgeous gowns in every single collection you do. I ain't mad, though. Keep doin yo thang.

Giambattista Valli - I loved every single piece in this collection from the more subdued black and white ensemble with the adorable black bow to the dramatic animal print dress with matching cape. I feel like people don't wear enough capes. I don't think I even own own. I should get on that.

Givenchy - Riccardo Tisci has one note when it comes to his couture collections, and that note is FABULOUS. Yes, the collections look identical to each other from afar but take a closer look to the tremendous detail in each individual garment. So lovely.

John Paul Gaultier - My heart seriously skipped a beat when I saw the gorgeous Coco Rocha walk down the runway in that fabulous copper colored outfit with the feathered sleeves. Absolutely stunning collection.

Maxime Simoens - This shouldn't even be allowed to be called 'couture'. I am sufficiently bored. Next.

Valentino - I've been complaining about the two punks that took over Valentino for years now, because honestly, they haven't put out a decent cohesive collection since they started. But things are looking up for the designing duo (Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli). I really liked this collection! I especially adored the sheer garment with the floral detail. Simply stunning. And Gwenyth Paltrow will wear the long-sleeved beige gown at her next red carpet event. Guaranteed.

The Other Kate's Wedding Dress

When a member of fashion royalty gets married, you know it's gonna be fabulous. Kate Moss married The Kills guitarist, Jamie Hince this weekend in Southrop, Gloucestershire. I was patiently waiting to see what Kate would wear down the aisle and was ecstatic when I learned that it was a John Galliano dress. The dress was lovely, not over the top or dramatic and very unmistakably Kate. Kate and John go way back and she had planned to wear one of his designs prior to his exile from the fashion world and I'm glad she stuck with him because honestly, this dress was perfect for her.

Apparently the gown was inspired by Zelda Fitzgerald, who also was the inspiration for Kate's vintage 1920s engagement ring. Although the dress does have a flapperesque appearance, it does not come off as too costumey. I made up two words in that last sentence, by the way, which is probably why I'll never win any awards for my blogging but I'm pretty ok with that. Back to the dress....I especially loved all the detailed sequined designs at the bottom of the gown. Oh and Kate's man looked pretty fly in his blue-gray Yves Saint Laurent suit

Cannes Film Festival's Fierce Fashion Moments

What's interesting about the Cannes Film Festival is that only a small group of celebs head to the French Riviera for a week each year for the film festival so it's a chance to see them in several different fabulous gowns throughout the week. Some celebs get it right every night, while others are a hit or miss. I didn't even post all of the different looks the celebs had this week because some of them made up to 5 appearances so I'm just going to highlight the good, the bad and the ugly.

TOP 10 BEST DRESSED:

1. Rachel McAdams in Maxime Simoens (left) and Marchesa (right) - She looked absolutely stunning in that Marchesa gown. That's quite a difficult dress to pull off but she definitely worked it. And that floral Maxime Simoens dress is absolutely adorable.

2. Kirsten Dunst in Chanel Haute Couture (left), Chanel Haute Couture (middle), Chanel Haute Couture (right) - I have to say, I'm quite impressed with Ms. Dunst. She effortlessly pulled off 3 gorgeous Chanel Haute Couture gowns. It's hard for me to say which one is my favorite look but I'm kinda leaning towards the one of on the left. Some of the critics hated that she matched the white dress with black Valentino pumps but I love the contrast.

3. Georgina Chapman in Marchesa (left) and Marchesa (right) - One half of the creative team at Marchesa, Ms. Chapman is pretty much always seen wearing her own designs and wows each time she does.

4. Naomi Campbell in Givenchy Haute Couture (left) and L'Wren Scott (right) - Naomi is not just a supermodel, but a true fashion icon. She definitely brought her A-game to Cannes.

5. Gwen Stefani in Armani Prive (left) and L.A.M.B. (right) - God, I love this woman's style. The Armani bow cut-out dress is such a fun, youthful and edgy look while still somehow remaining classy. She also looked stunning in one of her own designs. The black L.A.M.B dress hugged her curves in all the right places.

6. Karolina Kurkova in Armani Prive (left), Marchesa (middle) and Chanel Couture (right) - So she's a gorgeous supermodel who looks great in everything. Including all of the lovely dresses she wore this week.

7. Bar Rafaeli in Roberto Cavalli - This is such a stunning dress on such a hot body. The amount of detail on this garment is unbelievable. From the feathers to the sequins, all the glamorous components come together for a gorgeous look for Bar.

8. Diane Kruger in Chanel - Diane is seriously one of my favorite Hollywood stars simply because of her impeccable choice in clothes. It probably helps that she used to be a model but either way, the girl's got style.

9. Emily Blunt in Georges Chakra - Red is definitely her color. So lovely.

10. Milla Jovovich in Atelier Versace - Milla looks like a goddess in this floor-length gold gown. Love it.

SUPERMODELS LOOKING HOT IN CANNES:

Alessandra Amrosia in a gorgeous floor-length blue gown. She's not one of my favorite models but she looked exquisite that night.

Ana Beatriz Barros in a one-shouldered white dress. Surprise, surprise, she's from Brazil, the land of models.

Brooke Shields in Marchesa - Pretty sure she doesn't act anymore, and I'll always remember her from her days as a Calvin Klein model when she was a teen. So basically she'll always be a model in my eyes.

Claudia Schiffer in Chanel - So this dress is borderline trashy but for some reason Claudia manages to look elegant.

Irina Shayk in Atelier Versace - This Russian beauty is seriously the hottest woman alive.

ALMOST HOT LIST

Jennifer Lopez in Roberto Cavalli - I feel like there is just a little too much texture going on in this dress. If the bustier on the top didn't have the same texture as the skirt, I think it would've been a perfect look.

Kate Beckinsale in Armani Prive - The color is not working for her. The shape is not very flattering. She still looks glamorous but she could've done much better.

Michelle Rodriguez in Jean Fares (left) and a hot pink gown (right). I didn't love the soft pink look on the left. I think a lot of it had to do with the styling and her lackluster hair/make-up. I much preferred the bold fuchsia look on the right.

Michelle Williams in Sonia Rykiel - It's a cute dress but this is Cannes! Step it up a notch, Michelle. She seriously needs a new stylist.

Rachel Bilson in Chanel Haute Couture - Nice try, Rachel. I know it's like Chanel and everything but somehow you don't look exceptionally glamorous. Maybe it has to do with the model?

Rosario Dawson in Roberto Cavalli (left), Roberto Cavalli (middle), and Roberto Cavalli (right) - Clearly, Ms. Dawson is a fan of Cavalli and although none of the dresses are terrible, they aren't show-stopping either. Seems like a lot of the stars at Cannes were wearing Cavalli and they all had much more memorable red carpet moments.

Salma Hayek in Gucci (left) and Gucci (right) - I have to say I absolutely hated the red leather dress but I adored the embellished gray gown. My problem with the leather dress is it seems outdated. Like that would've been cool in the 90s. And the length is all wrong, it's way too long. Pair that with cha-cha sleeves and it's just one hot mess.

Uma Thurman in Chanel (left), Versace (middle), and Armani Prive (right) - Uma is a stunning, statuesque woman who looked breath-taking in almost everything she wore this week. Almost. That gray Chanel gown was unsightly. The color was dull and the silhouette did nothing for her gorgeous curves.

WORST DRESSED AT CANNES:

Aishwarya Rai in Elie Saab - This gown is lovely but the color is ghastly on her. Seriously, this woman loves to wear brown and beige. I have no idea why. NAGL.

Courtney Love in Givenchy Couture - Courtney Love. Enough said.

Elizabeth Banks in Atelier Versace - Elizabeth is definitely one of those hit or miss actresses. In this case, definite miss. Everything is glamorous until you get to the end of the dress and it gets all bridesmaidsy on you.

Freida Pinto in Lanvin - I hate to be a mean girl but Freida is just not cool enough for this dress. It's definitely an edgy fun dress that needs an edgy girl to pull it off. I can totally see someone like Leighton Meester rocking th is look.

Janet Jackson in Haider Ackermann - I like the two pieces separately but together the colors clash and become quite an eyesore.

Met Gala 2011: The McQueen and McCartney Show

The Metropolitan's Costume Institute Gala is easily my favorite fashion event of the year. Some stars take risks and wear daring and totally fierce gowns while others play it safe and wear pretty dresses that won't get them on any best-dressed lists but will keep them from making the "Oh No She Didn't" lists. There was definitely a mix of both last night at the opening of the Met's "Savage Beauty" exhibit that pays tribute to Alexander McQueen's body of work. Naturally, lots of ladies wore McQueen but it seems like most everyone else wore another Brit, Stella McCartney's designs. Shall we count them down? Let's.

TOP 20 BEST DRESSED

1. Shalom Harlow in Marchesa - This was my favorite gown from Marchesa's Spring 2011 collection so I was absolutely thrilled when I saw Shalom rocking the dress last night. Absolutely stunning!

2. Ginnifer Goodwin in Topshop - Ginnifer was the only one wearing green last night and she definitely stood out in the crowd. Her bright emerald dress with sexy cutouts and the complimenting accessories made this look perfection from head to toe.

3. Liv Tyler in Givenchy Haute Couture - I'm obsessed with Givenchy's couture collections. They are certainly not the easiest gowns to pull off but Liv looked lovely in the white and yellow feathered frock.

4. Christina Ricci in Zac Posen - One of the trends the past 2 seasons has been goth chic and this to me is the epitome of that look. I wasn't crazy about the hair and make-up but she looks pretty damn hot in that dress. Work it, gurl!

5. Freida Pinto in Chanel - It was refreshing to see such an adorable girl in such a fierce gown. I was in love with this gown when I saw it in the Spring 2010 Couture collection and Freida looks totally glam in it.

6. Bar Refaeli - I tried finding on the internet who made this dress but it was just referred to as "sequined gown" so I suppose no one cared enough to find out either. Well, Bar looks stunning in this dress and I'm loving the turquoise earrings she paired with it.

7. Dakota Fanning in Valentino - Ms. Fanning is growing up to be quite the little fashionista. She pretty much always gets it right with her red carpet choices and last night was no exception. I love that since the dress is so detailed and intricate, she chose to have very minimal make up and accessories. Well-played.

8. Ashley Olsen in vintage Dior - The Olsens either get it very right or very, very wrong. In this case, I adored what Ashely wore last night. This is probably the best she's looked in a while. Can't say the same about MKO. She's on my "other" list.....

9. Amy Adams in L'Wren Scott - God, I love this dress and Amy kills in it.

10. Diane Kruger in Jason Wu - Diane is one of those stars that's perpetually on my best-dressed lists. She has a fabulous sense of style and perfectly embodies the "Hollywood glam" look. And it doesn't hurt that she has that model body that looks great in anything she puts on.

11. Emma Stone in Lanvin - It's no secret, that I'm a fan of floral print dresses and Emma effortlessly pairs this glamorous gown with a perfectly pink pout.

12. Ashley Greene in Donna Karan - Simply stunning.

13. Karen Elson in Alexander McQueen - Although it wasn't over-the-top or extravagant, this was actually my favorite of all the McQueen looks the ladies rocked last night.

14. Rihanna in Stella McCartney - This girl can do no wrong in my eyes. She is the starlet who most embodies my personal style and I seriously can't wait what she's going to wear to red carpets because it's typically something I'd LOVE to have in my closet.

15. Karolina Kurkova in John Paul Gaultier - This dress is the definition of FIERCE. The white lace leggings are to die for (as are Karolina's legs!). This whole look is just a masterpiece.

16. Naomi Campbell in Alexander McQueen - This is definitely a McQueen dress that is hard to pull off but Naomi brings it. She's one of those canvases that looks good in anything.

17. Rosie Huntington-Whitely in Burberry Prorsum - Now that's what I call hot pink! The supermodels all served it last night.

18. Nicole Richie in Jason Wu - There were several long-sleeved, floor-lengthened gowns but Nicole's stood out due to the funky cut-out sleeves. This was classic Nicole Richie hippy chic.

19. Kerry Washington in Escada - I was in love with this shade of mint green on Kerry's gorgeous skin.

20. Jennifer Lopez in Gucci - Some people put Jenny on their worst-dressed lists due to the over-the-top floral sleeves but I thought the sleeves were fabulous. You do your thing, girl. I'm definitely a fan!

21. Michele Alves in Abed Mahfouz - Have no idea who Michele Alves is? Me neither. Never heard of Abed Mahfouz? Me neither. Whoever she is, she looks stunning in this dress by what's his name.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Shining in Chanel - Both Blake Lively and Anna Wintour looked lovely in Chanel. Blake's dress was definitely a risk and Anna's dress was originally a strapless gown but she had custom sleeves put on because she's Anna and she can.

Golden Girls - Claire Danes pretty much always wears floor-length gold dresses. She has a closet like Doug's with 20 of the same dresses lined up. I mean, she looks great in them, but it just gets kinda old. Elizabeth Banks looks very old-school Hollywood in her Tommy Hilfiger gown.

Daphne Guinness in Alexander McQueen - Daphne is probably a little bit insane. She is known for he ridiculous get-ups and of course she decided to wear one of the most over-the-top McQueen dresses she could. No hate though. Girlfriend takes risks like no one else and owns it.

Scarlet Fever - Lots of red on the red carpet last night. Dianna Agron looked very chic in her Michael Kors dress. Doutzen Kroes brought the drama in her Giambattista Valli crimson gown. Gisele wowed in Alexander McQueen and Glee cutie, Lea Michele rocked her red Escada gown.

How Nude! Another prominent theme last night was flesh-toned gowns. Fergie opted for an intricate Marchesa gown which I personally think was too much dress for her. Renee Zellweger looked lovely in her Carolina Herrera gown that fit her like a glove. Kate Hudson was absolutely glowing in her Stella McCartney dress. Gwyneth looked predictably chic in another long-sleeved, floor-length Stella McCartney gown. She looked great but I feel like she's a little one-note these days with her style choices. Salma Hayek and Sarah Jessica Parker looked lovely in their cream colored Alexander McQueen gowns.

Silver Divas - Keri Hison wore a fabulous Atelier Versace gown and Ciara looked funky fresh in this Prabal Gurung gown. Both ladies looked amazing.

Stellar in Stella - Madonna had on this star-spangled Stella McCartney gown and Iman, who by the way is 55 years old, killed it in her Stella McCartney jumpsuit.

Hot Pink Ladies - Michelle Monaghan in Derek Lam and Brooklyn Decker in Michael Kors wore two very similar dresses and both looked lovely. I think though I prefer Brooklyn's more vibrant dress from the two.

Miranda Kerr in Marchesa and Jennifer Hudson in Vera Wang. Miranda makes an adorable ballerina and Jennifer has been consistently fabulous this past year.

Chic in Black - Penelope Cruz looked very Penelope in her Oscar de la Renta gown. Leighton Meester went with a rocker chic look in Louis Vuitton. Leighton is one of those other girls whose personal style I adore and she never disappoints.

Pretty in Print - Sofia Vergara looking fabulous in Carolina Herrera. And this is the first time in months Michelle Williams isn't on my worst dressed list. She actually looked pretty darn cute in this Miu Miu dress.

WORST DRESSED

1. Taylor Swift in J Mendel - It's hard to tell if my negative judgment of Tay-Tay's dress is solely because I just don't like her or if she actually looks bad. I'm gonna go with both.

2. Alicia Keys in Givenchy - I just wanna yank that jacket off her. There is way too much brown on this outfit. And who wears a leather jacket with that gown? No, Alicia. Just no.

3. Solange Knowles in Dries Van Noten - Solange and the more-talented Knowles both looked a hot mess last night. This print is just too much, her hair is too much, her make-up is too much and the expression on her face is exactly the same one I got when I saw her look on the red carpet.

4. Beyonce in Pucci - She literally looks like she's about to suffocate in that thing. It's actually not a terrible dress but it definitely doesn't fit her. I read somewhere that she needed two people to help her get up and down stairs. So not fabulous.

5. Mary Kate Olsen in something vintage - No one on the internet knows what she's wearing but does it even matter? MKO definitely missed the mark with this dress. Was this really the most fabulous thing she could find to wear to the event? Shame.

6. Lucy Liu in Vionnet - With too many feathers and awkward proportions, I definitely didn't love Lucy's look.

7. Jessica Szohr in some inappropriate trashy dress. "She doesn't even go here!"

8. Jessica Alba in Ralph Lauren - Ok, Jess, we know you're like pregnant and stuff but do you think you could've at least ironed your dress before you left the house?

9. Christina Hendricks in Carolina Herrera - If this dress was sleeveless, I'd probably still hate it but I 'd definitely hate it less. So what I'm trying to say is, I hated this dress.

10. Kristen Steward in Proenza Schouler - Ok so this dress is actually mildly fabulous but it's just habit for me to put Kristen on my worst-dressed lists. I'm not ready to take her off until she really impresses me.

A Princess Bride in McQueen

The only thing anyone can talk about the past few days has been the Royal Wedding. And although the actual wedding itself wasn't at all interesting to me, I was intrigued by one thing and one thing only: the dress. When I heard that Sarah Burton was designing Kate's wedding dress, I wasn't sure what to expect. It's not like McQueen jives with Kate's personal style. She tends to dress quite modestly and that's certainly a word I'd never use to describe the McQueen aesthetic. When I finally saw the images online of "the dress", I was a bit confused. How is that McQueen? It was a simple and lovely dress and very appropriate for Kate but I feel like it was almost a waste to have McQueen's design team create such a classic and ordinary garment. It makes sense they went with a British designer, but why Sarah Burton? Why McQueen?

A few months ago at Paris Fashion Week, we saw Ms. Burton's Fall RTW collection which had several modern and extravagant white gowns. It's not that I actually expected Kate to walk down the aisle in one of these masterpieces but that would have impressed me immensely. And obviously one of the Princess's concerns is to impress a fashion blogger from Texas.

One last point. Kate is supposed to represent a modern princess. A princess of the 21st century. Yet her gown is almost a replica of Grace Kelly's princess wedding dress from 1956. It just felt a little familiar. Again, Kate looked lovely, but her entire look was just so safe and, dare I say, boring.

If I were to pick a dress from McQueen's previous collections to wear to my wedding, I'd probably go with this look from his Fall 2006 collection. Deer veil and all. Now, this is McQueen.

Harper's Bazaar is Gagalicious

First of all, if you're reading this and you haven't seen Lady Gaga in concert, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? I saw her show last week and it was easily the most amazing show I've been to. She is such a dynamic and dedicated entertainer and let's not forget she's a fashion icon. And that brings me to her latest magazine cover/spread. May's Harper's Bazaar features Mother Monster and I have to say, this is the loveliest she's ever looked. The incredible spread was shot by Terry Richardson who is a perverted genius. The cover is striking. She has those fabulous monster cheekbones, the long flowing pink hair and the sexy black Versace top that make her looking quite hegemonically attractive. Ok, spell-check just informed me that "hegemonically" is not a word, but my point is that Gaga always wears outrageous outfits, outlandish wigs and avant-garde make up looks that make her fierce, fabulous and very "Gaga" but never the typical Hollywood bombshell. I think this is the first magazine spread she's done where she looks both fierce and classically beautiful. Let's break down all the fashion looks.

Gaga in Tex Saverio. My favorite look in the spread. She looks absolutely stunning in this gown.

Gaga in Dior Haute Couture. This photo made me giggle. The school of Gagas is adorable.

Gaga in Francesco Scognamiglio. This is more "classic Gaga" due to its strange anatomy-inspired bodice. Not my favorite outfit but those macaroons add an adorable burst of color.

Model Spotlight: Rick Genest

My latest model obsession is 25 year old Rick Genest who is also referred to as "Zombie Boy". The only reason I know who he is or why anyone in the fashion world speaks his name is due to Nicola Formichetti, the newly crowned creative director at Mugler. Formichetti took an interest in Rick and decided to feature him in his latest fashion shows at Paris Fashion Week and in his Mugler print ads. Formichetti is also one of the fashion directors at the Haus of Gaga and Rick was featured in Gaga's "Born this Way". Rick has subsequently secured editorial campaigns in Vogue Hommes Japan (photo above) and GQ Style. I adore Rick because he's certainly no pretty boy but is absolutely perfect for Mugler. He compliments the aesthetics of the rough and decidedly dark look that Mugler has and although I don't know if he'll be versatile enough to secure other campaigns, I've been seeing this guy everywhere so I suppose he's not too concerned about booking jobs right now. I guess you can say Nicola Formichetti has created a monster.

Paris Fashion Week: Highlights and Disappointments

Ahhh....Paris. THE city. When I go there, I'm going to spend 99% of my time walking into boutiques and touching and smelling the clothes. That's it. The other 1% will be devoted to eating bread, cheese and pastries. I might visit the Lourve. We'll see. But back to the fashion...Paris Fashion week overwhelmed me with fabulosity so I'm not going to countdown my favorite collections. Instead, I'll go over the collections I feel deserve recognition and that my devoted readers should know about (about 20 total), then discuss some of the biggest disappointments from designers I usually adore (about 10 of those).

Alexander McQueen - I predicted this would happen. I knew that once Sarah Burton took over Alexander McQueen, her first collection would be a tribute collection that would mimic his work and then following collections would take elements from his look but start to fade into Sarah's personal vision. I think what we're looking at now is that in-between stage. You can certainly see a lot of Lee in this collection, I mean she was his right-hand woman for years. We're also seeing some new elements that could be distinctly Sarah. I'm pleased. I think that she's doing an admirable job and although I still don't get the same high viewing the collection as I did when Lee was designing, I still would say that McQueen is one of the collections I look forward to most in Paris.

Alexis Mabille - I'm sure my readers are sick of me talking about how "in" jewel tones are, but here we see the deep ruby tones again with a 70s twist.

Azzaro - Classic, clean, black and white collection. Nothing spectacular or ground-breaking but well-made trendy clothes that are truly timeless.

Balmain - A few seasons ago, the military-inspired jeweled Balmain jacket was the it jacket and this fall, I think the metallic fitted blazer is the new it jacket. I'm certain that many fashionistas will be wearing some interpretation of one of the Balmain metallic jackets. I will be one of them.

Chloe - Chloe is a label I plan on wearing heavily when I'm a grown up. Effortless sophistication.

Collette Dinnigan - I thought this collection was clever in the way it revamped the lace trend that's been dominating the fashion world these past few seasons. The white lace blouse with the sheer sleeves was one of my favorite ready-to-wear pieces in all of the Paris shows. Very striking and wearable.

Dior - Sigh.....This collection was bittersweet for me. First of all, it was stunning. All of it. Of course it was stunning, it was Dior, it was Galliano. I sincerely cannot imagine Dior without Galliano. Nobody understands couture quite like Galliano and even his ready to wear collections for Dior are full of drama and glamour. I, in no way, support Galliano's behavior but the man is undeniably a genius and the fashion world already lost a genius last year, I would hate to see it lose another. I hope after he gets the proper treatment in rehab, he makes a full-fledged return to the fashion world. I'm sure he won't be welcomed back at Dior, but at least he still has his namesake collection. As for the fate of Dior, I don't even want to think about it. It makes me sad. So let's not talk about it until we have to. Until then, Viva Galliano.

Elie Saab - Mr. Saab is painfully predictable. Every collection has the same notes, the same stunning gowns, but I hope you're not interpreting this as a complaint because I adore all of it. By all means, please continue creating the same gorgeous gown 1000 different ways, because I will always adore your designs.

Gareth Pugh - Gareth Pugh is my absolute favorite "goth chic" label. I'm obsessed with this collection in particular. The gold accents makes the catwalk look like a battlefield with fierce armored women ready to pillage your town. And let's talk make-up. I don't always comment on the make-up or styling unless it is remarkable and deserves discussion. The ladies on the runway had gold and blue patches attached to their skin to go with the warrior look of the collection. FABULOUS.

Givenchy - I had a hard time deciding if I loved or hated this collection. I'm still not sure, but for now, let's say I love it. The black panther theme was a little ridiculous but it was also kind of awesome.

Haider Ackermann - This was a collection that was equal parts hard and soft. Edgy yet feminine. Karl Lagerfeld has mentioned that he'd like Haider to take over Chanel after he retires and I'd have to say, I completely support that decision. But Lagerfeld isn't allowed to retire. Haider can take over Chanel after Karl dies. And I don't think it's been confirmed yet if Lagerfeld is capable of dying so Haider might have to wait awhile.

Jean Charles de Castelbajac - I had no idea this label existed until this season but it immediately caught my attention due to its tribute to one of my childhood favorites, 101 Dalmatians. The tan dress on the left with the puppy is freakin adorable and I kind of need it.

John Galliano - Another stunning collection by Mr. Galliano. Ugh....I can't. I just can't.....

Lanvin - Beautiful dresses, but honestly my favorite thing about this collection was the jewelry. Over-sized jewelry, especially large chunky necklaces are definitely in this season and the large rose pendant on the last look I posted was particularly fabulous.

Louis Vuitton - Take notes, Miuccia Prada, this is how you make fish scale sequins look chic. I was quite impressed with Marc Jacob's ability to churn out not one, or two but 3 fabulous collections this season. Bravo.

Miu Miu - Ok, so Miuccia isn't completely crazy because this collection rocks my world. There are some 80s inspired trends like the large broad shoulders juxtaposed with some feminine details like the bows and furs. Overall a cohesive and fun collection.

Mugler - So Gaga has been rocking a lot of Mugler recently and she's pals with one of the creative directors so it's not surprise Mother Monster made an appearance at the show. And by appearance, I mean she stole the catwalk. Oh, and I love all of the ridiculous over-the-top looks in this collection. I personally would never wear them, but that's why Lady Gaga exists. To wear the bizarre clothes we love but would never put on.

Viktor and Rolf - The red fierce make up made the girls look like little devils but honestly I thought it distracted from the clothes which were fierce on their own. The black coat with the pinwheel sleeves was genius and the detail in the draping in the gunmetal dress was remarkable.

Vivienne Westwood - Another strong collection for Ms. Westwood. The final few looks with the embellished sheer nude designs were my favorite pieces in the collection that made it truly stand out from the other Paris shows. Looove.

Zac Posen - Thank God, Zac Posen finally got it right! His last few collections had been disappointing so I was thrilled when I saw Coco Rocha prance down the runway in the stunning floor length blue gown. Welcome back to my Fashion Gods list, Mr. Posen.

Now on to the collections that made me weep.

Balenciaga - As if the ill-fitting skirts and dresses weren't bad enough, Ghesquiere had to add insult to injury by throwing fishnet over them. Excuse me, but when did you start getting inspiration from Hot Topic?!

Chanel - Karl Lagerfeld is on LSD. I'm just going to pretend like his bad judgment is secondary to drug abuse. Because clearly he has to be hallucinating if he thinks these clothes would look good on anyone. It's odd because his Fendi collection was on point. Maybe he just slips into dissociative fugue only when he designs for Chanel. Or, he's on drugs.

Comme de Garcons - I'm not really sure what this collection is. It literally looks like someone took a bunch of left over material and balled it up into random piles and ran a sewing machine through it.

Emanuel Ungaro - So a few seasons ago, Lindsay Lohan was part of the Emanuel Ungaro creative team and everyone hated the collection they sent down the runway. To be honest, I thought it was adorable. It was certainly more youthful and fun than previous collections but the critics tore it apart. But the critics liked this collection, so I no longer care what critics think about anything, because this is garbage.

Giambattista Valli - Hmm...not sure where to begin. The yellow fur trimmed dress is pretty awful, but so is everything else in this collection. The theme of this collection is "awful".

Jean Paul Gaultier - I see what JPG was trying to do. He was trying to make Granny chic hot. Unfortunately, it's not hot. It's not clever. It's not cool. It's just plain ugly. And no bonus points for using Andrej Pejic. I love that kid but it's not cool to just throw him in one of your hideous creations and try and win me over. Not gonna happen.

Stella McCartney - Stella is a hit or miss with me. Sometimes I enjoy her menswear for women look and sometimes I hate it. In this case, I hate it. It's simply not flattering. And what was going on with the white polka dots at the end of the show? It had nothing to do with the early part of the collection. I am not a fan of collections with no cohesive thread. Without something to tie the pieces together, it's no longer a collection but a random assortment of clothes.

Valentino - I am officially sick of the two punk kids that took over Valentino. I want Mr. V back. Come out of retirement and make your gorgeous gowns again, please.

Milan Fashion Week Review

The classic Italian fashion houses to me are all about sexy and chic garments that make women feel confident and desirable. This season, we've been seeing a gorgeous range of jewel tones, furs and jewel-toned furs at many of the shows in New York and London. Those happen to be my favorite trends from Milan as well. I'm going to talk about my 10 favorite shows followed by a few disappointments.

1. Gucci - This was definitely a collection that prompted the phrase, "one of each, please." Every single garment was rich with color and light as air. The movement of the garments down the runway was heavenly. I also enjoyed the details like the colored fur accents and petal-like capes. Frida Giannni stated that she was influenced by Angelica Huston from her days as a model in the 70s and Florence Welch from Florence and the Machines. I definitely see the connection since Florence is almost always in a floor-length, ethereal gown. This show celebrated Gucci's 90th anniversary and what a celebration it was!

2. Emilio Pucci - Again we're seeing the jewel-tone trend but what I love about Pucci is the hippy-chic quality the garments evoke. The dress that put this collection in the number 2 slot is the two-toned deep blue gown on the right. Juxtaposing the light reflecting off the sequins with the darkness of the cerulean material was magical.

3. Francesco Scognamiglio - Never heard of him? Me neither until I saw this collection last week. Apparently both Gaga and Rihanna are clients of his and I can see what draws them to his work. Drama, drama, drama. The metal flower shoulder pads in the white gown Coco Rocha was wearing was to die for and the long red dress was both original and exquisite. Consider me a new fan!

4. Roberto Cavalli - Cavalli has consistently made creations that I could actually see myself owning and wearing now. He has a unique youthful vision that many of his other legendary peers don't quite grasp. The gypsy meets rocker chick look is definitely a look I love and fits with my personal style so I'm always excited to see his shows to get ideas for how to layer and wear things I already have in my closet.

5. DSquared2 - This is another youthful label that always seems to come up with new and interesting ways to layer clothes. My favorite look was probably the middle one with the skinny jeans, white blouse, grey sweater, black structured jacket....and oh yeah, a flannel shirt wrapped around the waist. That should keep you warm. Warm and super trendy!

6. Fendi - To me, this collection was all about the fur. The clothes under the furs were irrelevant and boring, but the furs were fabulous. Well done, Lagerfeld.

7. Dolce and Gabbana - The last few collections the fashion duo showed were laden with lace, and while lace still managed to peek in here and there, it wasn't the main focus of the garments. Instead, the theme this season was stars. The long sheer yellow gown with the black stars was my favorite look and I also am crazy about the long gold sequined jacket on the right.

8. Moschino - The show started off with the fuchsia jacket and black skirt combo on the left and I was instantly drawn in. The color is stunning and had my attention for the rest of the show. The floral dress worn by Coco Rocha at the end of the show as adorable as well. I love me my floral dresses! Overall a clean and wearable collection.

9. Salvatore Ferragamo - Massimiliano Giornetti (I love that crazy Italian name, by the way) designs effortlessly chic and classic clothes that women can relate to. The collection was mostly black, white and gray with classic patterns like houndstooth and animal print.There wasn't a lot of innovation but there was certainly many beautifully made clothes that many women would love to wear.

10. Jil Sander - I'm a sucker for floral so put enough of floral anything in a collection and I'll almost always love it. Case and point: Jil Sander. The floral jumpsuit was ridiculous but I died when I saw it. I kind of need it. The floral booties paired with the solid black dress were also a must have in my book.

The following are a few designers who I felt got it wrong this collection.

Giorgio Armani - Ugh....where do I begin? Ok. If you read my blog, you probably know by now that I am not a fan of velvet, especially when it consumes the entire look. The off the shoulder velvet jumpsuit was hideous and completely irrelevant to the modern woman. The rest of the collection had odd and unflattering proportions and textures. And that fringe! Why?! The gowns at the end of the show were almost pretty until you got to the bottom of the dresses and realize that there is a bubble shape to it. Again. WHY?!

Marni - One of the first looks was the over-sized hideous suit with that horrendous pattern. Who on earth would wear that? The rest of the show had more patterned suits that were painful to look at and a salmon pink dress with an emerald green fur coat? No. Just no.

Missoni - I've never been a huge fan of Missoni but th is collection was exceptionally tacky. I don't understand the half gray/half brown jacket that went over an ombre sweater worn with a floor-length patterned skirt. Does anyone understand this? Please explain it to me.

Prada - Ok. Let me compose myself a second. Ok. I don't even...Ok. So one of the looks is a fish-scale yellow jacket with fur trim paired with a red fish scale skirt. And she's wearing navy knee-high socks. What the what? And what is up with that ridiculous pattern in the first dress on the left?

Versace - Although I didn't absolutely hate this collection, I didn't care for it much either. I have enjoyed Donatella's previous collections very much so was let down with this show. That Big Bird dress at the end was awful though. I did hate that.

Academy Awards Red Carpet

I love award season. Alright. Top 15 best dressed first followed by 10 worst dressed.

1. Anne Hathaway in Valentino (left) and Givenchy Haute Couture (right) - That night was HER night. In all fairness, girlfriend got to wear 9 different outfits but managed to look fabulous in all of them. She started the night on the red carpet in a gorgeous Valentino dress in classic Valentino red. I think this was probably her best look of the night. She then slipped into the dreamy Givenchy number which she looked like an ethereal goddess in.

Then we saw Miss Hathaway in a custom suit by Lanvin (left) with Swarovski encrusted pumps. Next dress change was into a Vivienne Westwood (middle) multi-tiered gown. She then vamped it up in an Oscar de la Renta fringed number.

My second favorite look was the deep red Atelier Versace gown (left). Jewel tones are definitely hot this season and she looked smoking hot in the garnet hued dress. Next was an electric blue Giorgio Armani dress (middle) that she looked quite regal in. She ended the show in a bedazzled Tom Ford dress (right) which was probably my least favorite look just because she was completely covered from head to toe, which is a bit matronly for her age. All in all, she was easily the best dressed diva of the evening.

2. Camila Alves in Kaufman Franco (left) and Dolce and Gabbana (right) - Mrs. McConaughey was an absolute knock-out in the Dolce and Gabanna lace number that she wore to the Vanity Fair after show party. I know most people think lace is played out, but I think it's a classic sexy look that is timeless.

3. Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier - Little Miss Mandy Moore has grown up right in front of our eyes into a fashion-forward young woman. The singer/actress wore two different stunning Monique Lhuillier gowns. Although I prefer the blue dress she wore during her performance, she looked lovely on the red carpet as well. But that blue dress was what put her in the top 3. Absolutely gorgeous.

4. Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein - Well, that's one way to make a name for yourself. This blonde bombshell is a new-comer to Hollywood but she made sure we wouldn't soon forget her. She looked smoking in this dress.

5. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy - I love that Cate takes risks. She's always on my best dressed list because she knows how to be both daring and chic at the same time. I especially loved the yellow bead detailing on the back of her gown. She rarely ever gets it wrong.

6. Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang - I love Sandy. Who doesn't? She's so lovable. And looked absolutely radiant in the ruby red gown.

7. Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa - Another new-comer to Hollywood, the True Grit break-out star looked very age-appropriate and lovely in this Marchesa gown.

8. Halle Berry in Marchesa - This woman is eternally flawless. Love. Love. Love.

9. Scarlett Johannson in Dolce and Gabbana - Scarlett took a risk by wearing a floor-length purple lace gown but she most certainly pulled it off. She looks sexy without looking trashy which is quite an accomplishment with all that lace.

10 - Amy Adams in L'Wren Scott - I loved this dress when I saw it on the runway at NYFW and I LOVE it on Amy. The color looks fabulous on her and the styling with the hair and jewelry perfectly complimented the dress.

11. Hilary Swank in Gucci - I love this look. There was just the right amount of detail with the feathers and sequins without it being overwhelming.

12. Penelope Cruz in L'Wren Scott - This is her first red carpet appearance since delivering her baby a month ago and she looks absolutely stunning. She definitely has the new-mommy glow. Her and Javier are my absolute favorite couple in Hollywood. They are darling.

13. Mila Kunis in Elie Saab - Ever since she's been hitting all of the red carpets to promote Black Swan, Ms. Kunis has been on my radar for one of the best-dressed young stars in Hollywood. This lavender gown is no exception.

14. Georgina Chapman in Marchesa - I couldn't find anywhere to confirm that she's wearing one of her own designs but this dress screams "Marchesa" so I'm going to assume she is. Love this dress. Love Marchesa. I'm obsessed.

15. Natalie Portman in Rodarte - I love this jewel-toned dress on Natalie and it is probably her best pregnancy look yet.

Time for the Worst Dressed......

1. Melissa Leo in Marc Bouwer - Melissa was just a complete hot mess that night. First of all, is she wearing a floor-length doily to the most important red carpet event of her life? Really? Fire your stylist. Now. He/She basically ruined your name in the fashion world.

2. Marisa Tomei in Charles James Couture - Marisa is eternally on my worst dressed list. She is a lovely girl with a terrible sense of style. This dress is hideous to begin with but also doesn't fit her at all.

3. Busy Phillips in Douglas Hannant - Busy was on some best dressed lists for this dress but I personally think it's a disaster. There is way too much going on here. It's too "Busy". See what I did there? Puns are great. No, but really. This is not a good look.

4. Helena Bonham Carter in Colleen Atwood - HBC is basically a permanent member of my worst-dressed list. But that doesn't change the fact that I worship her. She's probably my favorite actress of all time. So even though she dresses like a crazy person I still love and respect her for doing her own thing.

5. Sharon Stone in Dior - Is it just me or does she look like Cruella Deville?

6. Helen Mirren in Vivienne Westwood - My problem with this dress is the color. Not the most flattering. With all that fabric a jewel-tone would've been ideal. Although, I have to say, she looks stunning for 65.

7. Aishwarya Rai in Armani - Again my problem with the dress is the color. Brown? Really? Gross.

8. Florence Welch in Valentino (left) and Roksanda Ilinic (right) - It pains me to put her on my worst dressed list since she was on 2 of my previous best dressed lists. The layering and lace was just too much on the Valentino dress and the color was also off. The Roksanda Ilinic copper dress was an improvement but still didn't make up for her unfortunate red carpet choice.

9. Nicole Kidman in Christian Dior Couture - She is always hit or miss with me. She is a statuesque beauty that looks amazing in clothes but she doesn't always make the best choices. This dress has too much going on here. Simple is better. I would've preferred either the interesting layering or the beading but not both.

10. Michele Williams in Chanel - Although this is a vast improvement from her Golden Globes look, she still missed the mark with this ill-fitting gown. I actually like the dress but not on her. It washes her out. I don't know what to do with you, Michelle. Hire a new stylist? Or at least just pick a dress that's not beige or white next time? K? Thanks.

London Fashion Week: Disappointing as Usual

I painfully sat through all of the shows at London Fashion Week because I had hope. Hope that the next collection wouldn't be as atrocious as the last. There is no way the next one could be worse, right? Wrong. It was all terrible. Just terrible. Maybe I just don't understand the London look. Maybe it's genius and I'm just incapable of grasping the artistic message. Well, after sitting through all the shows, I was able to gather 10 shows that I enjoyed. Just 10. The rest were either uninteresting or grotesque. I will review the 10 shows I liked and show you, my beloved readers, the worse show I've seen in a long, long time. Ready? Ok. Let's do this.

Burberry Prorsum - This is Fall/Winter perfection. Bright and bold overcoats. Textured sweaters. Platform booties. Burberry consistently delivers practical and chic clothes.

Clements Ribeiro - There was a wonderful mix of patterns and printed tights with solid black pieces. Something for everyone.

David Koma - So half of this collection was brilliant. I enjoyed the modern take on polka dots in the black and white outfits but the rest of the collection with the colored polka dots and random placement of bright fur accents was a disaster.

House of Holland - I loved the crocheted dresses and scarves mixed with the bold colors. The 70s theme was fun and the colored striped socks were an adorable finishing touch.

Julien Macdonald - Goth chic heaven. Love it ALL. Especially dig how he ended the show with colorful and feminine dresses to contrast to the heavy black pieces in the earlier part of the show. Well done.

Mark Fast - This is a hot goth mess. Take notes from Julien, Mark because this is not acceptable. No girl wants to wear leather overalls. I guarantee it.

Paul Smith - How cute are these menswear-inspired outfits? Adorable.

Sass and Bide - A lovely arrangement of colors, prints and textures.

Temperley London - Yes. Yes. Yes. Miss Alice Temperley makes me not hate London for the 20 minutes it took me to watch her show. The hooded sweater dress and boots combo was my favorite look. So funky and sophisticated at the same time.

Todd Lynn - I loved that the furs covered the girls' mouth. Very Neighbor Wilson. Let's call it Neighbor Wilson chic.

Central Saint Martins - Let me start off by saying, that this show had over 200 looks. You read that right. 200. While most collections have anywhere from 30-50, this show seemed to drag on for an eternity. Central Saint Martins is the most famous fashion school in London. Kind of like the Parsons of the UK. The graduates from the program showcase their work each season and for the Fall/Winter 2011 show, they displayed over 200 hideous, poorly constructed, disasters. These clothes are not wearable. It looks like they took sheets and scraps from other projects and glued them all together just for the hell of it. Ugh. They all get Fs if you ask me. But I guess I'm not a teacher at Central Saint Martins.

NYFW Highlights

The Fall/Winter 2011 shows at New York Fashion Week wrapped yesterday and I have to say, I am extremely pleased with what the designers sent down the runway. All of the designers stepped up their game and it was refreshing to watch all of the shows and not particularly hate anything. There were several trends that were prominent including lots of furs, bright jewel tones and plenty of leather and lace. Unfortunately, the mullet dress still hasn't died and a few collections managed to squeeze in the fabric-wasting garments in their shows. Oh well. I'm sure it will go away eventually. *fingers crossed* Since there were so many brilliant collections, I'm going to start with my top 10 favorite collections this season and then comment on 20 other stand-out collections that deserve recognition.

1. Marchesa - Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are the two most talented female designers of our generation. Period. Chapman said she was inspired by Miss Havisham from Great Expectations for this collection. She made the statement that "decaying opulence" is so Marchesa. I'd have to agree. Loved literally every piece in this collection. Bravo, ladies.

2. Monique Lhuillier - Monique is another insanely talented woman who can make one hell of a dress. The collection started off with mostly all black lacy dresses and ended with strong bursts of deep reds. Her dresses are consistently exquisite, delicate and feminine. I don't think I've ever seen any of her collections without wanting to own every single gown.

3. Jason Wu - Can you believe that he has only been in the fashion game for 3 years? Wu has such a distinct vision and I believe that he is sincerely gifted. He is so young and so fresh yet finds a way to make elegant garments that are fit for the First Lady or the girl next door.

4. Prabal Gurung - This collection to me had a little bit of everything. There were edgy pieces you could mix and match. There were cocktail dresses, sophisticated separates and lovely gowns. The juxtaposition of the soft, feminine dresses with the edgier bandage tights was quite interesting. I MUST own a pair of those tights.

5. L'wren Scott - She said she was inspired by the Gauguin painting Tropical Conversation and although I don't really see how that painting translated to this collection, I don't really care because it was a fabulous show. Her use of the striking patterns and colors made her garments stand out. After viewing dozens of collections, I certainly remembered hers at the end of the day.

6. Marc Jacobs - You know why this main is a genius? Because he starts his collection with polka dots, adds a few lacy numbers, and then jumps to an entirely new print. And just when you think there is no way he can tie this all together, he ends with an outfit that included a polka dot top and a printed skirt. And it worked. Genius.

7. Naeem Khan - Ostrich feathers, sequins, and intricate beading. The devil is in the details.

8. Michael Kors- The classic American designer celebrates his 30th anniversary in the fashion industry with this collection. And what a celebration! This is easily one of his best collections in the past few years. From the fur coats to the perfectly polished separates and dresses, this collection reminded me why he is a legend in American fashion.

9. Alice + Olivia - What I love about this designer is how youthful and fresh she keeps all of her collections. This is one line that I can see myself wearing now as a 20 something gal.

10. Anna Sui - Another youthful and funky collection from Ms. Sui. Honestly, those cat hats are what did it for me. Adorable.

The rest of the collections I enjoyed will be reviewed in alphabetical order.

Alexander Wang - This Parsons educated designer launched his first collection in 2007 when he was only 23 years old. Since then, his line has been one of the most, for a lack of a better word, coolest in the industry. I'm not even going to apologize for using that word. Alexander Wang's clothes are cool. They're a little rough around the edges, interesting and hip. And they're cool.

Badgley Mischka - This is where we first start seeing one of the most prominent themes this season: jewel tones. The brilliant fuchsias and purples lit up the runway. These colors make me happy.

Betsey Johnson - If you read my blog or know me in person, you would know by now that I am an avid fan of floral dresses. My closet is filled with them and the reason I love them is for their simple femininity. What Betsey did with the simple floral dress is funk it up and give it a few modern twists. These dresses would feel right at home in my closet.

Carlos Miele - What I enjoyed most about this collection was the sharp contrast of colors and prints that wasn't overwhelming. Even though the prints didn't necessarily match, they somehow all harmonized together.

Christian Siriano - An all black collection is difficult to pull off because it's a struggle from beginning to end to keep your audience engaged. How can you make one black dress different from the next? What I loved about this array of black garments was the exploration of different textures and volumes. No one garment looked like the other yet they all seemed to be from the same family. I think it is safe to say Christian is no longer just a reality star but a fashion force to be reckoned with.

Costello Tagliapietra - This collection to me was all about the colors. I fell in love with that brilliant orange hue and was a little obsessed with the skin-tight orange pants.

Cynthia Steffe - The very first look sent down the runway was a leather vest with fur sleeves paired with a fitted asymmetrical gray skirt over cut-out stockings. I was immediately intrigued and couldn't wait to see the rest of the collection. Although nothing else in the show as as interesting as the first look, that creativity was enough to win me over.

Diane von Furstenberg - There was something magical about pairing a teal skirt with a blue blouse and a navy fur jacket. The use of jewel tones in this collection was more subtle but those were still my favorite pieces in the show.

Elie Tahari - More lace, leather, fur and ruby red. The tan lace dress paired with brown leather boots was probably my favorite look in the show. This level of sexy sophistication is what defines Elie Tahari.

Halston - Such simple yet beautiful use of jewel tones. Lovely.

Jeremy Scott - Scott said he was inspired by the 90s for this collection and although 90s fashion is something I'd rather not reminisce on, I did the show. Personal favorite was the black mini with the yellow lightning detail. Oh and extra points for featuring Andrej Pejic in the show! Loooove him.

Jill Stuart - I really enjoyed what I want to call the "Arizona desert" theme. Everything from the colors to the desert animal prints was refreshing and innovative. The color-blocking in the first 2 looks was on point and again, those colors just blew me away.

Marc by Marc Jacobs - Because one genius collection isn't enough. I can't wait to see what he designed for Louis Vuitton.

Milly - Guava, ruby red, candy pink. These colors are making me hungry! Loved the mix of color, prints and classic black dresses.

Rodarte - The Mulleavy sisters were inspired by the American Plains for this collection and I think it's totally adorable. The periwinkle dress reminds me of Dorothy frolicking down the yellow brick road and the red sequined skirt following it are her ruby shoes. Oz has never been so fashionable.

Thakoon - I enjoyed the colors, prints and draping but the only criticism I have about this collection is the lack of cohesiveness. It didn't really feel like the clothes complemented each other. Still loved them individually though.

The Row - The Olsen twins have been designing clothes since they were tweens so it's no surprise they are insanely talented at it. The designs are soooo Olsen, meaning they have that distinct look that they've taken from their own fashion preferences and transformed it into a solid collection.

Victoria Beckham - I have to say, I wasn't a huge fan of Posh's clothing line until this season. She was able to mix it up with new colors (jewel tones....duh!), new shapes, and has subsequently made a new fan.

Yigal Azrouel - This collection to me is the epitome of menswear. This is how its done. The cuts and fit are still feminine but the influence is from what is in your man's closet. Menswear doesn't have to be frumpy or baggy. I was never personally a fan of the trend before but these looks are definitely something I'd love to rock.

Designer Spotlight: Kevork Kiledjian

New York Fashion Week is coming to an end but I have to say, I have been very, very impressed with the Fall/Winter 2011 collections. All of the designers have stepped it up this year and I can't wait to see what the rest of the world has to offer. I was watching the shows at New York this week and was pleasantly surprised to see a new name to the game: Kevork Kiledjian. Kevork is a Paris-born designer who established the line Guilty Brotherhood before recetnly moving to New York and starting a new collection under his name. Why does the name make me smile? Because Kevork is also Armenian and seeing my fellow countrymen succeed in the fashion world makes me proud.

Now let's talk about the clothes. Kiledjian's debut collection was all about the simple sexiness of the little black dress. The dresses were tight, short and left little to the imagination. The purple dress and fur shawl was a nice break from the mostly black collection but was a little out of place. The leather, fur, fringe and lace were all details that enhanced the sexiness of the LBDs. Although the garments fit the models exquisitely, the designs were classic and construction was well-done, he didn't bring anything earth-shattering to the runway. Nothing new. Nothing that took my breathe away. Pretty clothes and a solid first collection, but I'd like to see some imagination; something we can talk about. Actually, his Guilty Brotherhood designs are much edgier and creative so I'm not sure why he decided to tone things down for this show. Maybe he wanted to play things safe for a debut? I want to see Kevork go far, but he needs to establish a unique vision to do so. I hope his next collection showcases his brilliance because he certainly isn't just a common dress-maker.

Grammy Best and Worst Dressed

Alright. Let's do this. Best dressed first then worst dressed follows.

1. Rihanna in Jean Paul Gaultier Couture (left) and Dior Couture (right) - I've been a fan of Ri-Ri's style for quite some time now because she takes risks and mixes things up but does it in such an elegant way. The Dior dress on the right was my absolute favorite gown from all of the couture collections last year so she definitely gets points for that. Two completely different and fabulous couture looks in one night? Damn, girl. Respect.

2. Lea Michele in Emilio Pucci - The Glee cutie was recently criticized for the risqué plunging neckline on her cover shot for Cosmopolitan magazine so I loved the fact that she rocked this low-cut dress in the midst of the controversy. It was a big slap in the face to all her critics because she looked absolutely stunning. Take that, haters.

3. Florence Welch in Givenchy Couture (left 2), Elie Saab (middle), Yves Saint Laurent (right) - Florence is another lady who was draped in several different fabulous gowns all night. She started the night on the red carpet in a Givenchy couture dress with swan details which was a difficult look to pull off but she looked amazing in it. A definite upgrade from the Bjork swan dress. Later, during the Aretha tribute performance, she donned an Elie Saab embroidered gown that was quite lovely. She again made another dress change into a stunning Yves Saint Laurent gown. I've been a fan of her music but never knew she was such a fashionista! I'm impressed.

4. Jennifer Hudson in Versace - All I can say is WOW. She has made quite the transformation. I love that she is embracing her new fabulous body with style.

5. Heidi Klum in Julien Macdonald - She's a supermodel who doesn't just walk the walk but also knows how to walk with style. She rarely makes bad choices. Last night was no exception.

6. Jennifer Lopez in Emilio Pucci - She looks like a fabulous disco ball. And I love that she wore spiked Louboutins. And those legs.... Jenny from the block has been looking hotter than ever.

7. Selena Gomez in J. Mendel - Ms. Gomez is only 18 but has already caught my eye several times for her elegant fashion choices. Lovely.

8. Keri Hilson in Basil Soda - Everything from the color to the cutouts and neck line was funky and fun. It's refreshing to not see a floor-length gown for once.

9. Kelly Osbourne in Tadashi Shoji - Kelly had been disappointing me recently but redeemed herself last night in this adorable lavender frock.

10. Leann Rimes in Reem Acra - Glitter and gold was definitely a theme last night and Leann Rimes looked fabulous in this gold gown.

11. Anna Nalick - I couldn't find anywhere online who made this dress. Didn't anyone ask her? Why isn't Ryan Seacrest doing his job? Anyways, whoever made this dress, it's adorable and looks great on Anna.

12. Kim Kardashian in Kaufman Franco - Although I didn't love the fit of this dress, the fabric and the overall look was quite glamourous.

13. Snooki - You know why I put her on my best dressed list? Because she doesn't look terrible. She's trying and the dress is actually really cute. Good for you, honey. You don't look like a complete mess.

14. Beyonce - Again no one knows who she's wearing and she didn't walk the red carpet but she looks hot and very very blonde.

15. Mya in Jean Fares Couture - Remember Mya? Because I totally forgot she existed until I saw her in this fabulously ornate couture gown. Way to make a comeback!

And now on to the worst dressed of the evening.....

1. Cyndi Lauper in some unnamed leather monstrosity. Looks like a costume from Hocus Pocus. NAGL.

2. Hayley Williams in Jeremy Scott - Jeremy Scott is typically one of my favorite designers but the pink feathers clashed with the red hair so much that it made this entire look an eyesore.

3. Jordin Sparks in Zang Toi - Jesus, when will the mullet dress die?! It needs to die.

4. Katy Perry in Giorgio Armani - She looks like a Victoria's Secret angel reject. I can't believe Armani custom made this. And those wings are ridiculous.

5. Nicki Minaj in Givenchy - I get that she's trying to be unique and typically she wears funky clothes that are also stylish but this outfit is just a hot mess. If she just wore the dress without the gloves, leggings and shoes, I'd probably put her in the best dressed category, even with that ridiculous wig. Less is more, Nicki.

Lady Gaga in a Hussein Chalayan and Haus of Gaga collaboration - I'm not ranking her in the best or worst category because she gets her own category. And I'm not going to make any "egg" jokes because that will only distract from my point, that she is Lady Effin Gaga and she can and will wear whatever she wants and will make political statements that may or may not make sense. I don't want to hear about who she "copied" because that is irrelevant. She is both a music icon and a fashion icon. She is the creative force in pop music today. She's a little crazy but baby, she was born this way.

Spring 2011 Couture Fashion Week

There is so much going on in the fashion world right now. Couture Fashion Week was a few weeks ago, New York Fashion Week kicked off this week and the Grammy's are tonight so you know everyone is dying to know WWGW (What Would Gaga Wear). Let's start with Couture Fashion Week. As a whole, I wasn't as impressed as previous seasons. There were many disappointments but a couple collections were on point so things kind of evened out. Brief review of the collections in alphabetical order:

Alexis Mabille - Mabille referenced a "dark versus light" motif as his inspiration for the collection and I enjoyed this theme in the two-toned green gown but the two-toned red/pink gown was pretty much a disaster in my book. The solid red gown was lovely but didn't fit with the theme. In general, there was a lack of cohesiveness in the collection and it appeared as though there were random dresses sent down the runway with no rhyme or reason as to why they belonged to the same family.

Armani Prive - Armani has been consistently sending down futuristic looks for his Armani Prive collection for the past few seasons but he has found a way to make the future different and interesting each time. Whereas in the past his future looks were mostly cream, white and beige, we now get bursts of jewel tones. The colors are brilliant, the textures are interesting and those hats....those hats are certainly eye-catching.

Bouchra Jarrar - Bouchra's theme for this collection was asymmetry and although the designs were clean and the details were interesting (I especially loved the asymmetric fur shawl on the gray dress), there was still nothing about the collection that screams "couture". Overall underwhelming.

Chanel - Oh Lagerfeld, you break my heart. The collection started off with the usual string of obligatory "Chanel suits" which I've forgiven him for. He has to uphold tradition. That's fine. But what came after that was what made my soul cry. The designs were not flattering. The proportions were off. The colors were drab. The only thing redeeming about this collection was that the fabrics and textures were fabulous. But the construction was disappointing. And all of the models wore flats. That makes sense. Fits with the fugly theme.

Christian Dior - Each year, Galliano's couture collection is my favorite. His is THE collection I look forward to and I associate the word "couture" with "Dior". Galliano did not disappoint. His collection was inspired by Rene Gruau's illustrations from the 1940s and 1950s with a few modern twists. All of the pieces were uniquely interesting and yet they all came together as a cohesive and lovely collection. And I also loved the way the girls were styled. Brilliant.

Elie Saab - After Dior, Elie Saab's collection was my favorite. Mr. Saab's gowns were all gorgeous, feminine and perfectly crafted. They fit the models exquisitely and I am certain we will see these gowns on the red carpet very soon.

Givenchy - Givenchy's couture collection was strikingly similar to last year's collection. It looks like the photos were even shot in the same room. The only difference was the addition of color on the back of the gowns to add some contrast to the all-white theme. Riccardo Tisci said this collection was inspired by Japan but I personally don't see that connection. These gowns (just like last year's) are gorgeous and the level of detail is insane but I'd like to see him go a complete different direction for his next couture collection.

John Paul Gaultier - Yes. Yes. Yes. Love everything from the styling with feathers in the girls' hair, to the lace leggings to the ridiculous finale piece. A kaleidoscope of legs hidden under a beautiful white gown? Ok. Whatever you say, JPG.

Valentino - I was disappointed with Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri's direction this couture collection. Piccioli claimed this was a trip "back to elegance" but in my opinion this was just a trip to boredom. There was nothing original or interesting about any of the gowns, except for maybe the last gown with the voluminous layers. I'm not impressed. Actually I haven't really loved anything these two have done since they took over as creative directors in 2008. I'm kinda over them. Come back, Valentino! We miss you.

Golden Globes: Best and Worst Dressed

Overall I was quite impressed with the way everyone was dressed that night. Emerald green was definitely the "it" color of the night and long-sleeved, bedazzled, Dynasty-inspired dresses were also prevalent. Because there were more looks I liked than disliked, I'm gonna go through my top 20 favorite looks, some honorable mentions, then my 10 picks for worst dressed. All right, let's do this.

1. Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive- She looked absolutely stunning from head to toe. Perfection.

2. Leighton Meester in Burberry Prorsum - The floor-length, long-sleeved, flowy gown was elegant and adorable at the same time. I love Leighton's vintage-inspired look and her predilection to abstract and interesting garments. I literally don't think anyone else could've pulled off this dress.

3. Olivia Wilde in Marchesa - She looks like a fairy princess. I didn't love that she had messy hair (she should've worn it up) but she gets extra points for wearing my favorite pair of shoes from 2010.

4. Angelina Jolie in Versace - Angelina Jolie is an alien. I'm convinced she's not a real person. She looks stunning and it's nice to see her in something other than black.

5. Jayma Mays in Alberta Ferreti - How cute is Jayma Mays? I love her. She looks very elegant in this floor-length bejeweled gown. Just wish she would've stood straight.

6. Mandy Moore in Monique Lhullier - I love this color on Ms. Moore and there is the perfect amount of tulle in this garment.

7. Claire Danes in Calvin Klein - The color and clean, straight lines compliment her quite well. It's a modern twist on the classic American look.

8. Kyra Sedgwick in Emilio Pucci - Canary yellow is probably one of my favorite colors and although the dress is not spectacular, Kyra wears it well and that color, man that color just won me over.

9. Julia Stiles in Romona Keveza - Julia Stiles was a surprise for me. I don't typically think of her as a glamarous Hollywood star but she definitely looked the part that night. Lovely.

10. Eva Longoria in Zac Posen - Girlfriend looks fieeeerce. The dress fits her perfectly and she looks smoking. Tony, who?

11. Sandra Bullock in Jenny Packham - I haven't heard of Jenny Packham but this one-shouldered dress definitely caught my eye. I would love to see more of Ms. Packham's gowns on the red carpet.

12. Amy Adams in Marchesa - Didn't this woman just have a baby? She looks amazing. And it's no secret that Marchesa is one of my favorite designers. The ruffles, the colors, the train. Perfection.

13. Christina Hendricks in Romona Keveza - Three words. Red-hot bombshell. I guess that was 2 words? Ok. Two words, one hyphen.

14. Amber Riley in Oliver Tolentino - This dress was a great choice for her. It flattered her figure and the minimal styling let the dress shine on its own. Bravo.

15. Catharine Zeta Jones in Monique Lhullier - Another emerald dress. What made this one unique and why I picked it over the other ones was that the texture was so interesting. And Mrs. Douglass looks so freakin regal in everything she wears.

16. Elisabeth Moss in Donna Karan - I loved the detail in the bodice of this dress. The sweetheart neckline was lovely and the color flattered her very much.

17. Mila Kunis in Vera Wang - I can see why so many stars opted for this color. It looks great on everyone.

18. Heidi Klum in Marc Jacobs - This dress cost Ms. Klum many "worst-dressed" labels but I have to disagree. I think she looked fabulous in this retro Marc Jacobs dress. It was a bit casual for the event but she wasn't nominated for anything and didn't present anything so I think it was appropriate enough.

19. Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta - Pretty sure she's on all of my best dressed lists. She is a very trendy Gleek.

20. Julianne Moore in Lanvin - I loved, loved, loved this dress. Everything from the color to the ginormous sleeve. I only wish she would've remembered to iron the dress. With so much fabric, too many wrinkles can ruin a look. I would've ranked this in the top 5 for sure had it not looked so unkempt.

Christina Aguilera in Zuhair Murad - Loved the dress but I don't think it was the best choice for the recently curvier pop star.

Diana Agron in J Mendel - She looks like an angel. I just wish I'd see more color on her.

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein - This was a great dress just the wrong color. Totally washed her out.

Jennifer Love Hewitt in Romona Keveza - Loved the ruffles in the bodice.

Milla Jovovich in Armani Prive - Another instance of great dress, wrong color.

Natalie Portman in Viktor and Rolf - She's been rocking adorable, flowy gowns throughout her pregnancy. Love it.

Nicole Kidman in Prada - Is it just me or does Nicole Kidman always look like a wax replica of herself? She looks great, though.

Scarlet Johanson in Elie Saab - It was a bit matronly for my taste but was pretty nonetheless. Without the sleeves, it would've been in the top 20 for sure.

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang - Another fuchsia dress that's begging to be ironed.

Alright. Now to the worst dressed of the evening. Lots of bad choices and stylists to be fired.

1. Halle Berry - I don't understand how anyone could think that a "mullet dress" could be chic. Stop trying to make mullet dresses happen. It's not going to happen.

2. Tina Fey in L'Wren Scott - Really, Tina Fey? A floor-length velvet dress with ruffles?! You're just lucky I love you because you're hilarious.

3. Michelle Williams in Valentino - I think I used to have this dress when I was 6.

4. Jenna Ushkowitz in Rebecca Taylor - I hate the color. I hate the jeweled belt. I hate the fringe. Gag.

5. Tilda Swinton in Jil Sander - Ok, Tilda. We get it. You're androgynous. I'm so bored with this look.

6. Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad - I wanted to rip off that overlay from the dress. WTF is that?! Not cute, J Lo. Not cute.

7. Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood - Mismatched shoes. Check. Crazy hairstyle. Check. Funky shades. Check. I love you, HBC. Please hire a stylist.

8. Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen - Kelly has been on a roll recently but I wasn't feeling this dress. At all.

9. Megan Fox in Armani Prive - Not her best look. There is too much going on in the bodice and the color washes her out. Also, is she getting even thinner? Gross.

10. January Jones in Versace - Ok, I admit she looks amazing. Hair, makeup, and that body is pretty ridiculous. But I really feel like it was an inappropriate choice. Borderline trashy.

If you only saw a head shot you'd think, "what a pretty girl". Indeed with those full lips, long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, the 19 year old Serbian Australian is quite the stunner. But this isn't your ordinary pretty face. This face belongs to a male model. Intrigued? Yeah, me too. Actually, Andrej Prejic is my latest obsession. I find his androgyny both fascinating and beautiful and he also happens to be quite the gifted model. It appears the fashion industry agrees and many big names in the industry have utilized his unique look recently. He has walked in fashion shows for Jean Paul Gaultier and been in ad campaigns for Marc Jacobs. Can't wait to see more of him in future campaigns and on the cat walk!

She and the rest of the Hogwart's gang is out and about promoting their new Harry Potter film so we'll be seeing a lot more of her on the red carpet. I am totally digging everything about this look from her pixie hair cut to the sexy yet classy lacy cut-outs and the frilly skirt. When I first saw this frock I thought for sure it was a Marchesa design but apparently it's a vintage Rafael Lopez. Can't wait to see what else Ms. Granger struts down the red carpet in!

London Fashion Week Highlights

London Fashion Week was overall a bore, per usual. There were a few collections I quite liked, though. Some of my previous British favorites like Matthew Williamson, Christopher Kane and Basso and Brooke failed to impress this time around. No worries. We still have Milan and Paris. Here are a select few collections from London that I loved. Also, since there were only a handful of collections I liked, I decided to add extra-big photos since I have more room and am not as concerned with a super-long post. Enjoy!

1. Burberry Prorsum - Chic fitted leather jackets paired with soft feminine ruffled dresses is a winning combination for Burberry. They had a similar theme last season too and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Love every single piece in this collection. Metallics are also very in this season and both the short and long metallic leather jackets are pretty much a must have for this fall/winter. Take note, ladies!

2. Jonathan Saunders - Lovely bold prints mixed with even bolder colors. I especially enjoyed that the prints resemble a map and appreciated the beautiful fit of the garments.

3. Sass and Bide - Funky. Fresh. Fabulous. With ruffles, metallic touches and a rock n roll edge, there was a play on hard and soft which was quite refreshing.

4. Vivienne Westwood Red Label - The dresses were adorable. (Duhh, it's Vivienne Westwood.) But to me what really stood out from this runway show was the makeup. The Avatar-esque blue face makeup was both gorgeous and original. I loved the ethereal shade of powder blue that the models were literally covered in from head to toe. Lovely.

New York Fashion Week: Top 15 Favorite Collections

It will be fall in a few days. New York Fashion Week came and went and as the leaves are starting to change (in parts of the country that actually have seasons), so are the trends. It seems as though color made a big comeback this season and color-blocking in particular was everywhere on the catwalks. Sheer dresses, light floral themes and bright patterns filled the Lincoln Center and although fall is upon us, I was overwhelmed by the spring-themed collection. I guess that is to be expected since all of the Spring Fashion Weeks preview in the fall and all of the Fall Fashion Weeks preview in the spring. After watching all of the shows, I picked my 15 favorite collections. Noticeably absent from my favorites list: Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Alexander Wang, Betsey Johnson, and Christian Siriano. Those collections weren't awful, but definitely didn't make the most fabulous list. Sorry, thanks for playing. Let's count down the collections I loved.

15. Charlotte Ronson - Here we see one of the collections that utilized the sheer dress look that to me is a little impractical since you'd have to wear shorts underneath to remain modest but if this is a trend I have to endure than at least Ms. Ronson can make it into an adorable, 90s-inspired look with florals and plaid jackets tied around the waist.

14. Badgley Mischka - The designing duo have been off my radar for a while due to underwhelming collections with awkward fitting garments but they redeemed themselves this season. The dresses are quite lovely and fit the models beautifully.

13. Lamb - Ms. Stefani can do no wrong in my eyes. I consistently love her collections year after year and this season is no exception. I love her use of bold, colorful prints and the edgy oversized ruffles. Her collections are always youthful, always edgy and always fabulous.

12. Jeremy Scott - After Gaga's tragic yet epic "meat dress" look at the VMAs last weekend, I was elated to see meat dresses at Jeremy Scott's show this season. No, they were not made out of actual flesh which made them that much more fabulous. There are no expiration dates on these fabulous frocks. I also adored the skeleton dress only because it is horrendously anatomically inaccurate but cute nonetheless.

11. Z Spoke by Zac Posen - Yellow seemed to be popular hue during NYFW. I loved the canary shade of yellow Zac Posen used in his collection. The second dress, in particular, is something I need in my closet, ASAP.

10. Peter Som - More color-blocking. Fun, youthful looks. Love.

9. Mulberry - I love that they only used banged redheads for this show. It added an extra level of adorableness to the clothes. Almost makes me want to dye my hair red. Almost. And how cute is that blue jumper?

8. Prabal Gurung - Out of all the color-blocking collections, this was my favorite. The second look in particular really grabbed my eye when I first saw it. I mean, how could it not? The neon blue, yellow and orange geometric shapes beg to be noticed.

7. Jason Wu - Gorgeous use of the petal-like details. Very feminine and eye-catching.

6. Oscar de la Renta - There were 60 looks in this season's collection and the first half were mostly casual separates that were a bit yawn-inducing but once the gowns hit the runway, my attention was immediately on the gorgeous prints and fits. The rose print gown was my favorite by far. I don't think I'd ever wear it personally but I thought it was a fabulous over-the-top look with the rose gloves and shoes.

5. Anna Sui - One of everything, please.

4. Alice + Olivia - Youthful, feminine and just plain adorable. All of the sequins, ruffles and feathers add just enough detail to make the garments interesting, and yet don't overpower the dresses. Perfect balance.

3. Marc Jacobs - There were so many elements about this show that I loved. From the gorgeous color palette with the deep reds and purples to the flower accents in the models' hair to the light airy quality of the garments, I fell in love with Marc Jacobs all over again.

2. Monique Lhuillier - Monique Lhuillier knows how to dress women. Period. She is consistently a red carpet favorite for celebs because she makes beautiful, classic garments that are timeless. This collection was no different and the bright red-orange was a gorgeous choice.

1. Marchesa - Let's face it. Marchesa is always my favorite collection from New York. I've already mentioned in previous posts that I think Georgina Chapman is the single most talented female designer of our time. The use of crystals, sequins, ruffles and draping in this collection are absolutely heavenly. There is always drama in her work but she never forgets to accentuate the female form. A perfect juxtaposition of hard and soft.

Emmy Fashion Favorites and Trends

The Emmy's were on Sunday evening and I was actually on call that night so while I was waiting in the ED at Brack for a new patient to admit, I was browsing on my trusty smartphone admiring the red carpet fashions as the beautiful people arrived. My top 10 list for best dressed includes my usual favorites such as the newly (and consistently) chic Kelly Osbourne, Heidi Klum (who will probably never age and will look fierce at 90) and Lea Michele who is quickly becoming one of my favorite young and trendy starlets. First let's start with my best dressed list and later we'll go into a noticeable trend of the evening.

1. Heather Morris in Ina Soltani - I was taken aback to see the usually hilarious and quirky Brittany from Glee look absolutely breath-taking in this Hollywood glamour inspired look. This look is perfection from head to toe. Ms. Morris is officially giving Lea Michele a run for her money as the most fashionable Gleek.

2. January Jones in Atelier Versace - This dress was a close second for me. In the past, I haven't been a fan of Mrs. Draper's award ceremony looks but this dress makes up for all the times she fugged up a red carpet. The color is brilliant and complements her perfectly. I especially love the scale-like texture of the garment and the perfect amount of volume in the skirt.

3. Julie Benz in Pamella Roland - Long white gowns were definitely "the look" of the evening as several celebs were inspired by Roman goddesses but my favorite was definitely Julie Benz's dress. Not only does the dress fit her perfectly, but the styling was spot on. With sleeked back hair and the right amount of jewels, she sincerely looked like a Grecian queen.

4. Kelly Osbourne in Tony Ward - This woman keeps shrinking before our eyes. She looks absolutely fantastic and the dress was a great choice for her. I loved the detail in the fabric and draping on the top was lovely. Also I'm thrilled she's back to blonde. The purple/gray coif was doing nothing for her.

5. Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta - So far, she has never disappointed me on the red carpet. This dress is fabulous and I would've placed her higher on my list, maybe even first, if it was just another color. I'm not a fan of the color with this particular texture.

6. Heidi Klum in Marchesa - Heidi Klum in a form-fitting minidress. Enough said.

7. Angela Kinsey in Romona Keveza - I have no idea who this woman is but I absolutely loved her dress! The lace detail is beautiful and is both classic and very contemporary as well. Lovely.

8. Claire Danes in Armani Prive - Similar to Heather Morris's shimmery long gown, this dress is also quite stunning but her minimal styling and lack of contrast made the overall look a bit drab. Still a lovely dress though.

9. Jayma Mays in Burberry Prorsum - How cute is Jayma Mays in Glee? I seriously love every outfit she wears on that show and she definitely looks ferosh on the red carpet as well. This dress was a great choice for her but I just wish she went with a different color.

10. Julia Ormond in Escada - Finally some color! I loved the rose-inspired shape of the top of the dress and the way it drapes and flows to the ground is beautiful.

Ok now for a parade of long white and beige gowns. Apparently everyone wanted to be Cleopatra Sunday night. I am a fan of this trend and the ladies all looked lovely but some variety on the red carpet is always appreciated.

I was planning on making a "Worst Dressed" list too since I love talking crap but honestly, there were only one or two looks that I really disliked. As a whole, the ladies were very well-dressed Sunday evening. I'll save my scathing reviews for another red carpet.

Celeb Style: Rihanna

Rihanna has always been one of my favorite stylish celebrities because of her fearless outlook on fashion. She's always wearing the latest trends and designer labels but finds a way to make them look unique and individualistic. First of all, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her fiery red hair. She obviously gets bored with her locks quite often since she's constantly chopping off and coloring her hair. It looks fab, the girl could do no wrong in my eyes. Also, how hot is that lace Stella McCartney little black dress?? The neon green Proenza Schouler is also quite fetching but my favorite recent look of hers is that adorable multicolored polka dot jumpsuit. Because really, only RiRi could pull that off. Love it.

Shoegasm: Spiked Louboutin Ankle Boots

Recently Louboutin has been designing stilettos with spikes all over the place. And I totally love it. It's one part rock'n'roll, one part red-carpet chic which makes for one killer pair of heels. I saw Victoria Beckham wearing the silver pair of the "Bridget's Back" booties in Vogue Turkey and they definitely caught my attention. Alicia Keys (a.k.a the future Mrs. Swizz Beatz) was recently spotted wearing the black pair. Personally, I prefer the gold or maybe silver ones since they're definitely flashier and completely gaudy.

Ads I Love: Miu Miu Fall 2010

Since fashion magazines are basically 90% ads with a few articles sprinkled in here and there, it's important to not forget about the art that is the high-end designer fashion ad. Here is what I find makes an ad successful. 1. Pretty girls 2. Pretty clothes 3. Good lighting. That's it. Too many extra props, detailed scenery or too many people make the ad busy and draws attention away from what they're selling. Artsy/dark lighting makes it difficult to appreciate the clothes. I get frustrated when I see creative teams make these mistakes almost as if they don't even care if we can see the clothes. It's always obvious to me when they get it right, though. A perfect example of such an ad is Miu Miu's Fall 2010 Collection. As I flipped through my August Vogue, these ads immediately caught my attention due their simplicity, bright colors and fierce poses by Lindsey Wixson, Daphne Groeneveld, Ginta Lapina and Siri Tollerod. The dresses are fabulous (in fact, the purple floral frock has been used for 3 covers this summer), the girls are fabulous, and I couldn't ask for anything more.

First Look at Rodarte's Black Swan Costumes

Rodarte's award-winning sister duo of Laura and Kate Mulleavy are two of the most talented (and two of my favorites) in the industry. I was ecstatic when I heard that they were designing costumes for Darren Aronofsky's next film. I was elated when I learned that the film, Black Swan, is about rival ballerinas who perform Swan Lake. I was borderline psychotic/manic when I read that Natalie Portman was going to be playing one of the ballerinas in the movie. Pretty much, what's happening is that a bunch of my favorite things are being put together into one form of art. The first images of Rodarte's costumes hit the interwebs this week and it looks like the Mulleavy sisters are going to treat us to dramatically beautiful and elegant costumes. I am literally foaming at the mouth right now. I can't wait for this movie to come out!

Block of Fresh Air

I'm currently obsessed with Balenciaga's Fall 2010 shoe collection. I was flipping through July's Vogue and came across a color blocking spread for shoes and a pair of these architecturally inspired heels were featured. I never got a good look at the shoes during Fall 2010 Fashion Week but the detail on them is definitely worth a closer inspection. I love the sharp contrast between the materials and colors and all of the rigid lines. They're definitely what I would call "statement" shoes. Statement shoes that are color blocked to perfection.

Fall Couture Fashion Week

There were only a handful of couture shows so I'm going to review all of them, in alphabetical order.

Alexis Mabille - Pretty clothes but my only complaint is that the collection looked more like a ready to wear collection then a couture one. Where is the drama? Where is the imagination?

Armani Prive - Well-made suits and dresses that are reminiscent of Old Hollywood but are over all underwhelming. Mr. Armani's couture collection last year was one of my favorites so I was quite disappointed.

Bouchra Jarrar - I really enjoyed her use of lines in this collection and if it was a ready to wear show I would've given it a glowing review, but THIS IS COUTURE, people. Let's show some enthusiasm, please!

Chanel - Now this is couture! There is an extravagance nostalgic of Imperial Russia that demands attention. Although I didn't love every piece in the collection, there were over 60 looks that easily allowed me to pick several looks that I loved. Bravo, Lagerfeld.

Christian Dior - This was easily my favorite couture collection. I may have been a bit biased since I am floral-obsessed but the motif transcended a traditional floral theme and transformed the runway into a full-fledged garden. Galliano is no stranger to drama and extravagance and this collection is a perfect tribute to his loud voice. This man eat, sleeps, dreams couture.

Elie Saab - I have always liked Elie Saab's point of view. He is able to make beautiful clothes that are exciting and edgy but without losing any femininity. My only complaint is that the majority of the color palette was somber with an emphasis of gray. The colorful pieces were gorgeous, though. Overall, a lovely collection.

Givenchy - There were only 10 pieces in this collection but each one was lovely. With an emphasis on white and gold, the dresses were beautifully embellished. When I picture what goddesses would wear, I'd picture one of these gowns.

Jean Paul Gaultier - Yes, yes, yes. Loved everything about this collection from the bizarre head-pieces to the breath-taking floor length gowns.

Valentino - I was skeptical after Valentino retired that anyone would be able to capture the "Valentinoness", a sort of femininity that is innate but not overdone. This collection reinforces my belief that Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli have been able to do Valentino justice. The use of bows and angelic shapes was perfection and I am a little bit obsessed with the bird-cage dress.

DSQUARED2 is Very Vertebral

It upsets me that medical school has interfered with my blogging since I have so much in the fashion world to be excited about right now. Couture Fashion Week kicked off today and I'm planning on reviewing the collections after viewing them all next week. The couture collections are easily my favorite because it allows the designers to showcase their adventurous, artsy side. It gives them free reign to be as freaky, lavish, grotesque and outrageous as they want to be. It's basically like giving a child permission to color on the walls. Dear God I've missed fashion. I was studying for boards for what seemed like an eternity and completely detached myself from all the fashion news outlets I frequent to allow myself to be a productive student.

Well, I'm officially back to following what's new and exciting in the realm of fashion and it was tough to decide what I'd blog about first, but after I saw these shoes, I was instantly inspired. I am a huge fan of DSQUARED2. The designing duo (and twin brothers) Dean and Dan Caten are definitely some of the edgiest, creative minds in the industry and I am a huge, huge fan. Their collections are consistently my favorite each season and no detail is overlooked. Let's talk shoes. In their most recent collection, they featured black stiletto sandals with a spine as its heel. Of course, I was immediately drawn to them due to my predilection to all things medical but I'm certain that anyone who appreciates a hot pair of heels would love these shoes. The spiny heels are also featured on boots and pumps so you can make an anatomical statement in any season.

Katy Perry in Cute Circuit - Usually she's always on my best dressed lists but this light-up monstrosity is definitely not helping her win any fashion points. First of all, it looks too big on her and there are wayyyy too many ruffles.

Kristen Stewart in Chanel - She is a permanent member of my worst-dressed list. The dress is not terrible but she has absolutely no idea how to stand, have proper posture or look like a woman.

Lily Collins in Chanel - This one is totally the dress's fault. Just plain ugly.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Louis Vuitton - This dress has too much dark fabric for such a small pale girl. I am not a fan of gothic-chic.

Malin Akerman - The dress is totally fab but is also totally inappropriate for the event. Boho-chic does not translate well on the red carpet.

Alright, now on to some color! After Jennifer Lopez, my second pick for best dressed was model Coco Rocha. The long Zac Posen gown with the over-the-top train would've been a trainwreck on anyone else but she made it on my best dressed list because the woman was born to model. 2010 Met Costume Institute Gala: Part I

The Metropolitan's Costume Institute Gala is, in my opinion, THE fashion event of the year. One striking trend this year was neutral, specifically nude-colored, tones. I'm typically not a fan of nude dresses because they allow for very little contrast against most skin tones but when done properly, they can be quite ethereal and lovely. Jennifer Lopez is easily my pick for best dressed last night and her Zuhair Murad sparkling silver dress was heavenly. Here are the other neutral-colored looks:

Red Carpet - Chopard: 150 Years of Excellence

Chopard, the luxury watch and jewelry company, had an event last Thursday celebrating 150 years of icing out rich people. Speaking of rich people, there were a handful of A-list celebs who showed up. Here is what went down on the red...errr dark green carpet.

Christina Ricci wore a floor-length vintage Galano gown. I have to say, this is her color! It takes a certain look to pull off that much green, and some would argue that it's not easy being green, but I think she looked fabulous. I think her pale complexion, dark hair and green eyes complement this dress perfectly. The only thing I would've changed was her shoes. Open-toed would have been more appropriate with a gown this length but other than that, she looked stunning.

Kate Hudson wore a purple Lanvin dress and although I didn't absolutely love it, it was still a cute dress. She accessorized it appropriately and her hair and make-up was flawless.

Georgina Chapman, designer for one of my absolute favorite lines (Marchesa), wore one of her own designs and she looked like an adorable little ostrich. The woman is 5 months pregnant and was absolutely glowing in this frock. I loved the feathers and lace. I think there was just the right amount of detail without being overboard.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore this floor-length Antonio Berardi gown and I think this is the perfect example of when floor-length gowns don't work. Lace is definitely hot this season but this is just way too much. It also isn't flattering at all. It looks too big, too long and is just kind of ugly altogether. She should've taken a cue from Christina's stylist and worn a solid gown or maybe found one that fit her better.

Claire Danes also wore a Lanvin frock to the event but I have nothing to say about it. Not a terrible dress but quite frankly it's boring me to tears looking at it.
